High Precision Logging

While Hybrid Assistant main purpose is helping while driving, its data capture feature can be proficiently used by an expert technician for troubleshooting and fine tuning of engine parameters.
One example is LGP fuel quality evaluation, based on LTFT and STFT.
For this purpose, it's best to enable the High Precision Logging in the settings screen.
This will cause collection of data at the highest possible frequency.

Warning: enabling high precision logging will have a performance hit of about 2.5x.
Use it only when required.

This settings also affect the export data function of Hybrid Reporter.
Trips recorded with High Precision turned on, will produce logs with multiple samples per second.

As always, using a good and fast OBD adapter is highly advised.

Please note that, while performing an HV Battery Check, high precision logging will be enforced automatically.

Panel Assistant

The huge amount of information available from Hybrid Assistant, requires the use of multiple panels.
All the panels can't be displayed simultaneously on the screen, and not all the info are useful all the time.
By enabling the Dash Automation option under the Panel Assistant section in the settings screen, the most relevant panel will be automatically displayed based on the actual context:

  • summary information will be displayed while parked
  • glide panel will be shown at speed range where glide can be achieved
  • BSFC fuel chart will be shown while travelling at high speed

No need to touch the screen anymore while driving: safety first!

Glide Evaluation

Historically, glide has been defined as the condition of zero power to the wheel: this is the condition displayed natively by your car HSI meter or power arrows representation on the dashboard screen.
This condition, though, causes a little drainage of the HV battery.
The Glide Assistant feature of Hybrid Assistant, instead, evaluates glide based on zero power to the HV battery, allowing true power-neutral glides.

It's possible to restore the old style evaluation method using the option in the settings screen.

End of Trip Summary

When enabled in the settings screen, a new End-of-Trip summary is displayed and captured as a screenshot on your phone.
Among other information, the new Glide index is also displayed.

AMOLED Screen Filter

AMOLED screens can be affected by a "ghosting effect" when the same image is displayed for a long time.
By enabling the AMOLED option in the settings screen, an ever changing mask will be superimposed to the Hybrid Assistant instrument cluster, periodically turning off pixels.

Note: screen filter is disabled while taking a screenshot.

Time in motion

The EV summary panel can now display trip time as total time or just time spent while the car is actually moving.
You can tap the panel to switch between the two information.

Reset

You can reset all options back to default with the "Reset All" button.
Note that this will also delete all trips data from the database used by Hybrid Reporter.
Settings will be reset as soon as you restart Hybrid Assistant.

Overseas rejoice

Overseas rejoice! Hybrid Assistant now can display miles and gallons: you can set them in the settings screen

Automatically correct speed

The new version of Hybrid Assistant has an option to automatically correct indicated speed to GPS.
The factor can be estimated only it the car is running at a constant speed higher than 50 km/h for at least 10 seconds.
When selected, the speed correction factor field will be grayed out and, at the end of a trip, it will show the estimated correction.

GPS Speed and Correction Factor

GPS speed has been added to the option panel that opens by tapping the speed indicator.
Be aware that GPS speed is only available if GPS is enabled on your phone, and the displayed value has a delay of about 2 seconds to the actual car speed.

The same panel displays the speed correction factor.
You can enter this factor in the settings screen, so the speed displayed on screen will match actual speed.
Speed factor can be correctly estimated only if you proceed at a constant speed higher than 50 km/h for more than 10 seconds

Automatic activation of Bluetooth

If you're using a Bluetooth interface, you can allow Hybrid Assistant to enable Bluetooth at start, and, if it did, disable it at the exit.
Note: the options are available only if Bluetooth connection mode is selected.

Auto Fan

HV cooling fan can be automatically controlled by Hybrid Assistant
Here's the effect of setting fan activation at 36.
Fan will start if temperature is 36 or higher, and will stop at 2 degrees below the specified level (34 in this case)

Option is available in the settings screen

Brightness

Checking the Automatically reduce brightness option in the setting screen will cause the screen to change backlight level according to ambient light.
This may be useful while driving at night.
Option will be grayed out if the phone doesn't have any light sensor.
