A new dress

Hybrid Assistant has a new icon, a minimal design inspired by the old one.

But not only that: Hybrid Reporter is now integrated into the main app and is accessible from the settings menu.

You can open it only when the car is stopped, for obvious safety reasons.

Interactive Maps

The new version of Hybrid Reporter allows live browsing of map data.
You can see where and how you performed in EV, Glide, Braking and fuel consumption, with real time zoom and pan.

Engine Stats

The new release of Hybrid Reporter adds a statistics page.

You can see actual engine usage in hours over a selected period of time.

Running time is an important parameter in evaluating engine wear: for example, oil lifetime can be estimate by hours rather than kilometers.
Statistics are provided based on data collected by Hybrid Assistant: consistent results are possible only if Hybrid Assistant is used on every trip of the car.

Disclaimer:
The development team of Hybrid Assistant strongly advise to strictly follow Toyota guidelines for periodic maintenance.
Data provided by the Hybrid Reporter statistics page can be used for informational purposes only.

OpenStreetMaps

Hybrid Reporter now uses OpenStreetMaps for map rendering.
Maps are not static anymore: you can zoom and pan them.
Legend and scale reference are also included.

Engine Temperature Management

During the winter season, a classic trick is covering up the radiator grid, but this can be risky if you don't properly monitor the engine temperature.

You can use Hybrid Assistant, while driving, to check that the engine temperature stays within operating limits.
While this is usually not an issue in a urban environment, driving on the highway is not always considered safe.
Using Hybrid Reporter, you can check the engine behavior: here is a test of 20 kms at 130 km/h indicated speed.
The engine coolant temperature settles on a safe value of 90°C.
We can see that the electric engine temperature was raising, but its operating temperature is way higher that the petrol one, beeing able to work until about 160°C.
A higher trip may show if the trend will slow down and settle on a stable temperature.

Aggregated Trip Reports

It's now possible to aggregate trips is a single report in Hybrid Reporter.
Trips must be contiguous.
If you want to aggregate 3 trips, select the first trip in the trips list and press Generate Report

Then select "3" as number of aggregated trips

Not all charts are available in aggregation mode, but those based on aggregate data will have a greater precision

LGP fuel quality evaluation

Joshue Martín de Blas, a long time friend of Hybrid Assistant, has put to good use the Fuel Trim charts of Hybrid Reporter.
In his own words:

These 2 Fuel trims graphics are of the same trip, but with different LPG brand. It's clear that in one case the effective Fuel Trim is bigger (and the fuel consumption higher also), because the ECU needs to make much more corrections tho the injection time.

Fuel usage over distance

The Fuel usage over distance chart plots consumption on a distance scale.
The green line shows overall fuel usage starting from the beginning of the trip, while the red histogram depicts local fuel consumptionin every single kilometer of the trip

    New Release

Lots of new charts for Hybrid Reporter

Average fuel consumption at each given speed
Average value is highlighted with a dot, along with min/max range and standard deviation.
Note that under 70 km/h, variation is really high, since the electric motor can push the car with no petrol engine contribution

    BSFC Value
Value of g/kWh during the trip.
Note how BSFC value gets better as the engine enters best temperature range and speed variations are kept at minimum.

At which power output is the engine more efficient?
The BFSC for kW chart shows precisely that.
The measure uses only values from optimal temperature range, and is significant when performed on a long trip with many different and steady power requests.

    2016/10/16

    Elevation Profile

The Elevation Profile charts shows GPS elevation data of the trip.
Additionally, energy usage from both engine and battery, in kWh, is shown on the right axis.

    Debug Settings

Hybrid Assistant writes a log of logging, for debugging purposes.
This is usually not necessary while driving regularly.
The Report Viewer has Settings screen where you can turn on and off logging.
Turn it on if requested by the developers.

    Report Viewer

Hybrid Assistant produces a detailed report for every trip.
A simple Report Viewer is available on the Play Store, to read and manage reports.
